SNOW SNOW SNOW

Posted by Patrick - 10:19 on 18 December 2009

Andy and I decided it would be a good idea to check out the snow conditions on the hill yesterday, as it was the first snowfall for a couple of weeks. So we nipped up to the El Alamein hut (not a place for a planned kip overnight!), had a quick cuppa there. Then over to Ciste Meredith, the snow is beginning to build up here. After that we had look at the back of Cairngorm to see what snow cover there was there, not too bad considering it was on the windwardside.

Slightly ironic that the avalanche service had decided to start their service yesterday too! Visit http://www.sais.gov.uk for daily avalanche forecasts.

Here are a couple of photos: one shows the rime building up on a post and the other some skiers:-

Enjoy the conditions. Today it is snowing here at beallich.

Cheers for now.

It's 30 degrees here..I'm reading your blog in Sydney, Australia.

The only chance for a white Christmas here is a BBQ on a white sand beach...

Wishing you both a good 2010.
