Nepal trip, Scottish winter and 2010 plans

Welcome to our first proper blog. In November we headed off to Nepal and had a great time trekking in the Annapurna foothills near Pokhora. It is an ideal location for a family trek or for those wishing shorter days. The Nepalese people are lovely and you are always well looked after. From there we visited the Chitwan National Park where we rode on elephants, saw rhinoceros and loads of other wildlife. The weather at this time of year is stable with temperatures in the hills being about 20 degC during the day and sunny. It gets cooler at night but not anywhere near freezing.
Since we've been back winter conditions have been shaping up very well with snow falling two week-ends ago and then a pretty continuous period of cold weather with temperatures down to -8 deg at night and often not climbing much above 0 during the day. We are expecting more snow later this week which will help consolidate things.
During the week after Christmas Patrick will be assisting Andy from Mountain Innovations running a winter skills course. Later in January (21st-24th) we have one of our winter wonderland walking holidays running, followed by one in February,11th -14th, click here for more information.
Have a wonderful Christmas and New Year - Abby & Patrick.

Without beallich and the arrangements that they have made with local enthusiasts I would not have got close to the wildlife.
